Awards

Bachelor Degree (BSc)

Duration

Minimum time: 3 years

(Full – Time) foe BSc programme: 2 semesters per year totally 6 semesters.

Every semester include 8 Modules and 2 seminars, totally for the three years 48 modules and 12 seminars.

Outline of Delivery

The course is delivered in the afternoon 5:30 pm. to 9:30 pm. Typical time table are:
Monday to Thursday for semester’s programmes.
Friday to Sunday for Seminars and Executive Programmes.

Methodology

Our methodology as a learning and educational organization, is based in Three separate parts:

Theoretical part
Of the course in which examined and analysed all the stages of diagnosis, planning, organization and control of every module.
Practical part
Of the course in which are included all the technicalities of the modules and they are presented in the labs of SBE.
Empirical part
Of course, in which all the students must be placed, in the Shipping Industries of Piraeus, for Minimum empirical experience of 6 months.

Typical Teaching Points

Every day Monday to Thursday in SBE classrooms are teaching 2 modules, 2 hours, per module, totally 16 hours per teaching week.
All participants should proceed in 4 procedures :

  1. Attendance of modules
  2. Studying of modules (Proposed 32 hours per week)
  3. One Coursework per module
  4. Examination for all the modules per semester

The grading system is as follows per module: from the examinations 80%, and from the coursework 20%, totally 100%.

Programme Aims

Students on the programme will:

  • Be exposed to and developed a broad range of managerial skills
  • Develop the ability to communicate clearly and effectively by production of reports
  • Develop a questioning and critical attitude
  • Use both analytical & experimental methods for the solution of Maritime Operations problems
  • Develop the ability of self-learning

Facilities & Learning Recourses

  • SBE provides computing facilities.
  • SBE provides facilities for presentations requirements, such as P/C projectors, transparency projectors,DVD projectors, TV, Video, Cameras, Simulation Programmes.
  • SBE provides executive conference rooms.
  • SBE provides Library collection of books,  journals, audio, vision materials and electronic information.

Programme Objectives

The programme aims to enable the students to:

  • Function in a managerial role in the operation of ports, shipping companies and offshore units
  • Develop an advanced understanding of the legal framework within which undertakings of a maritime character operations & Logistics
  • Analyse the significant influences (operational, technological and economic) on the effective operation of the ports, ships and offshore units
  • Understand and implement the requirements of formal safety assessment and review
  • Study the role played by marine information processing systems in the efficient operation of an enterprise
  • Develop a strategy to choose appropriate technologies for competitive advantage
  • Develop a sound understanding of the law and associated operational procedures as related to operational safety and the protection of the marine environment
  • Effectively and efficiently plan and manage research project
  • Be conversant with legal principles, law and conventions that apply to a dry and wet shipping law.
